AUSTRALIAN RACING.
The results of the third day's racing of the A. J.C. .Spring meeting are to hand by cablegram to-day. The Free Handicap winner, Dockwood, is a son of Kingston— Myrza, and belongs to Mr W. Kite. He was handicapped at Gst. 81bs. in the Metropolitan, and was thought to have a good outside chance for that race. A. T., who ran third for the race won by Dock - wood, was for a long time first favorite for the Metropolitan, in which, however, he failed to show prominently. The Craven Plate brought out some good horses. The winner, Robinson Crusoe, better known as the Chrysolite colt, was one of the firstclass thr'ee-vear-old performers of last year. His narrow'escapc in the City of Melbourne is well known. Mr C. P>. Fisher, his owner, is said to fancy him for the Melbourne Cup, though he has Bst. lOlbs. up. Salisbury, who ran second, is a three-year. old coit by Tim Whittle*—Jessica, and is reported a good horse ; he has been backed for the Melbourne Cup, in which he has to cany 6st. 31bs. Another Cup candidate, Deacon, 4 years, ran second in the President's Handicap. His form is only moderate, and although he has only Cst. Sib*, to carry in the big r.tce, it is unlikely he will be heard of to advantage. The most interesting race of the dayfseems to have been the Mares' Produce Stakes. In this Chester and Woodlands fought out their Derby .struggle over again; and this time the HonJJ. White's splendid son of Yattendon and Lady Chester, had his revenge for his Tuesday's defeat. His probable, however, that Woodlands had to carry a penalty. Cap-a-pie, who was third in the Derby, was also third in this race. The following are the results : — Free Handicap. — Dockwood, l ; Wamba, 2; A.T., 3. CRAVEN Plate.—Robinson Crusoe, 1 ; Salisbury, 2; Viva, 3. This was won easily. President's Handicap. —Eva, 1 ; Deacon, 2 ; liangatira, 3. Makes' Produce Stakes. —Chester, 1 ; Woodlands, 2 ; Cap-a-pie, 3. This was a line race.
