AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET.
:Mr Alfred Bucklaxd's Weekly Report. —At Remuera on Thursday, July 12th, dairy cattle were in visual numbers, and fair inquiry : Best animals bOUght from £7 ]5s to £10 10s; inferior, from £5 each. No store cattle offered. Fat cattle in less than usual numbers, 121 sold to the trade ; prices firmer, and ranged from 27s to 30s the lOOlbs. Sheep, in moderate numbers. Store merino wethers brought from Is to 7s 9ri each: fat sheep, slightly better worth, and realised 3d the lb. Pigs, in usual supply, and at late values. Fat calves, scarce, and at extreme prices. Averages obtained were : 7 cows. James .Robertson, £7 ISs (id : U steers, David Robertson £10 12s 9d : 14 steers. 11. Knox, £3 Ss Gd; 12 steers, W. J. Taylor, £U ;?s Ga ; 12 head. A. Stewart, £11 2s; 25 steers, J. 13. Brown, £8 0s : 0 cows, J. Hodge, -SO 10s; 1C steers. James Whyte, £3 Is: 5 head, Stevens, £9 ISs ; 300 wethers, Li. Kelly, 15s lOd each.
Messrs Hunter axd Nolan's Weekly Report.—Cattle.—The competition at Newmarket for fat boasts was very spirited, and although 30s per 100 lbs was the price of wel'-iaU.ed bullocks, some choice animals sold higher. AYe quote:—Dairy cows, £S to £11 os: store cows. from £3 15s to £5 15s : two-y^ar-old steers, £1 to £5 2s Gel; two-year-old heifers, from £4 to £115s ; weaned calves, from £1 15s to £2 7s each. Sheep.—The Newmarket yards were well supplied on Tuesday, and competition was spirited. Best fat wethers sold from 19s to 225; second wethers and ewes, from 15s to 17s. Pigs — Although a large number wera yarded, the demand was continuous, and for good descriptions 3d per lb live weight was given.
