AUCKLAND MUSEUM AND INSTITUTE.

A constt.erA3.T-15 number of persons visited the Museum and Institute last evening, notwithstanding the unfavourable weather and the attraction at the Choral Hall. The visitors, moreover, appeared to take great interest in the pictures and works of ornament and ability, with which the general building is tastefully filled. The Black and White exhibition attracted very general attention, also, the many choice printings furnished by citizenß, many of them original and very valuable. Of these we propose to write in a futnre issue, At the appointed hour Mr Severn, the talented lecturer, proceeded with his excellent lecture on the "Rotation of the Earth rendered Visible," which was illustrated in a clear and eminently satisfactory manner. The scientific and astrotronomical facts adduced by the lecturer, were of necessity the same as those^ of the previous evening. Mr Crookes exhibited the dissolving views, which added greatly to the interest and exposition of the discourse. Mr Severn's lecture this evening will be " Tho Telescope," its construction, form, and use. Mr Crookes will exhibit a series of magnificent cities and scenes of Europe; be will also shew the animals in the Zeological Gardens, in Eegent Park, London, and a variety of insects, etc., pertaining to the world of nature. The dicing skeleton will also be exhibited for the first time in New Zealand.
