Fatal Accident "by Scalding
On Monday afternoon a little boy of one year old, named Thomas janvs Ohappell, the son of a labourer, living in Montague-street, Newton, met with an accident which h?a terminated fatally. The mother went into the yard for a few minutes, and left the boy playing in the kitchen, and duiing her absence the little fellow, prompted by childish curiosity, went up to the fireplace and pulled over a large kerosene tin of boiling water upon him. His screams immediately brought in the mother, who found that the boy was seriously scalded about the body, arms, and legs. She immediately sent for Dr. Young, in the Karangahape road, who was quickly in attendance. The doctor did all that the ease seemed to require, aud, for a time, it was hoped that the cuild would recover. Last night, however, he grew worse, rapidly sank, and expired this morning at five o'clock.
