DEPARTURE OF HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR.
His Excellency the Goveknok and Lady Normanby, with, their suite, left for Wellington to-day by the Government steamer Luna from the Manukau. The vice-regal party w<-nt out to Onehunga by a special train at 10 o'clock this morning. His Worship the Mayor attended his Excellency to the railway station. The Auckland Volunteer Engineers and Band, under Captain Anderson, Lieutenant Kitchen, and Bandmaster Impey, with Major Gordon accompanying them, assembled at their headquarters at half*past eight this morning, and marched to the railway station playing lively airs. They travelled to Onehunga by the ordinary train at 9.20 a.m. for the purpose of forming a guard of honor for His Excellency at the embarkation. Upon arriving at Onehunga. the illustrious party were greeted in loyal fashion by the residents, who turned out in considerable numbers for the occasion. No time was lost in getting on board, and as the luggage had all been previously stowed, by 12 o'clock the moorings were cast off, and the Luna steamed down the harbour to the Heads. We learn that His Excellency has conveyed to His Worship the Mayor his thanks to the people of Auckland for their kindness during his Btay. His Excellency has also been pleased to say that bis visit has been much enjoyed by himself and family. On the wharf his Excellency desired Captain Anderson to stand forward, when the Governor thanked that officer forhis escort, and desired him to convey to his company the thanks of himself and the Marchioness, for turning out to do them honor.
