■ [To the Editor of the Evening Stab.] Sir,—l do not know who is responsible for the way in which the improvements in llobson-street and Pittstreet are cai-ried out, but I claim your assistance to call the attention of the Mayor, Town Council, Town Surveyor, Inspector of Nuisances, Police, and Contractor, or any other person or body, who may have power or control over the work to the reckless manner and uttor disregard to the accommodation, safety, and convenience of the public, that have been, and still are displtyed there, That only one accident has been recorded,' and damages obtained, is » proof that we are a long suffering and patient people. For weeks the footonth at the corner of Vincent-street was obstructed by heaps of scoria and water pipes/when ten minutes labour of an able bodied man, would have sufficed to remove them. At the corner of Wellington-street a number of lumps of stone have been lying near the pillar post-box for weeks, proving a ,dangerous ebstruotion on dark nights. As to lighting up at night, that has been, and still is, a perfect farce, and now to carry out the system which has been hitherto the prnutioo. p,bout a dozen loads of scoria have been oarted and that on the footpath between Grey-street and Karangahapo Road, and there ltft for several days and nights.
