The manager of the Freight Company has written to the Borough Council intimating that the Company have resolved on towing in vessels in ballast for this port free of charge. The Council have decided that all tug boats belonging to the Government > when towing in vessels in ballast will be free of port charges. It is understood that the Sawmill proprietors have agreed to subsidise a Tag Company by £1000 per annum, for the towage of vessels with ballast inwards and timber outwards bound.
