COROMANDEL.

(From our own Correspondent.) This day.

Golden Point and Kapanga. The Golden Point Company on the Kapanga reef have finished a crushing of 17 tons of general stuff, which has yielded a very handsome return —altogether 73 ozs. : from specimens 38 oz3. and general stuff 34 ozs. Shareholders should now be convinced of the value of this property, and inspire new hope in those who are connected with the New Zealand Kapanga Company, for they are now within a very short distance off the same reef, but at a mtich lower level. The New Zealand Kapanga shaft is now down 280 feet, and at 300 feet they intend opening a chamber and driving to intersect the reef; and on the same run of gold which has been traced to within 150 feet of that level. Shareholders should therefore be pretty sanguine of meeting with success.

New Green Harp. The New Green Harp claim have intersected the reef in their 200 feet level, and has turned out some very fine specimen stone, proving the mine to be of great value. A long drive has been put in to intersect the reef; but the shareholders are now satisfied that the money has not been worthlessly expended. Prescott's Claim. Another gold-bearing reef has been discovered in this claim, and the shareholders are about forming it into a company to keep the affairs and management in a sound state. The drive on the main reef is now in some 70 feet on a very good reef, and it is now intended to lave atrial crushing of about 20 tons. If this should prove payable, the mine may be considered a very valuable one. Big Low Level Project. Harbour View.—Gold has been found in sinking a winze upon the mullocky reef, but the men had to stop sinking on account of the inflow of water. Thl3 is to be regretted, ' for it was intended that this winze should test the reef before commencing a low level. It is contemplated I believe by the Harbour View Company to ask the Pride of Tokatea Royal Oak, Tokatea and Bismarck Companies to join in the construction of a joint low level from the Whakaro Battery level along the foot wall of the main reef, where the ground has always been found of a nature easy to be driven. This appears at first to be too gigantic a scheme to be thought of, but on a little consideration and proper data to shew the advantage to be gained to each other and the field in general will convince the most doubting. It is wonderful sometimes what can be accomplished when mining companies co-operate in undertakings of this nature.
