ONEHUNGA.
The quarterly licensing meeting for the district of Eden was held at the residence of K. C. Barstow, Esq., on the Ist instant, at noon, before R. C. Barstow, chairman ; A. K. Taylor, T. Paton, P. A. Philips., commissioners, when the following transfers were granted :—Junction Hotel, Newmarket, from Richard Gwynne to George H. Eaton ; Harp of Erin Hotel, from William to Patrick Lundon.
Resident Magistrate's Court, Wednesday, 2nd December ; before R. C. Barstow, Esq., K.M. :—Charles Loui, alias Severn Lc Belle, was brought up in custody charged with stealing from the cutter Dawn when lying alongside the Onehunga wharf two blankets, value 125., the propeity of Para, a native, one of the crew. Prisoner pleaded guilty to this charge. He was further charged with stealing four one pound notes, two pairs of ladies' boots, value 10s ; one pair of men's boots, value Cs ; and one coat, value 3s, — the property of George .Hart, the master, and value for £4 19a. Prisoner pleaded guilty to taking the boots, but denied taking the money.
George Charles Hart and Thomas Gilfin. proved the offence, and the prisoner was sentenced to three months' imprisonment for each offence.
Obscene Language : This offence heing proved against Johanna Smith, she was find. 5s aad costs, or fourteen days imprisonment. ggJames Rogers, for threatening the life of his wife, Mary .Jane Rogers, at VVaiuku was bound over to keep the peace for six months, himself in £50 and two sureties of £25 each,
