DISMISSAL OF THE STRATHNAVER SALVAGE CASE.

The races came off to-day,
Maiden Plate; 100 soys.; one mile and a half : There were five entries. Ratigi went off with a lead, others clfise up, Voltaire last and running poorly. Princess Mary soon came to the front, pushed close by Bangi and Lough Rea. Eangi was let well our, and went to the fore at the straight run home. Lough Rea came up, whipping hard, and took the lead in a splendid race, and then took place for the firtt. Lough Rea won by half a length, Pangi taking second place by about same distance. In the middle of the race Voltaire threw his rider, who appeared to be hurt, and was assisted off the course. The salvage claim against the Strathnavar —laid by Turnbull and Co., owners of the Stormbird—was dismissed with costs The claim for demurrages on the part of the owners of the Strathnavar will be tried on Friday week.
A Gazette, just published, notifies that Mr Henry Isaacs has been appointed a member of the Central Board of Health for the province of Auckland, vice Mr. P. A. Philips, resigned. Mr ueorge Sturtevant has been appointed clerk in the Lands Transfer and Deeds Registry office, Auckland
