A fire broke out at tha Lawrence store (Meyers and Co.), and was firat noticed in the second storey. It is is a mystery how it originated. The flames were got under by the Brigade in four minutes. The damage to the building is confined to the upper storey, but the stock below is considerably damaged. Insurances on building and stock :-Northern, £1400 ; Victoria, £550 ; South British, £200.
