MEETING OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
A very great calamity is likely to befal the country, and we raise our warning voice. The General Assembly was prorogued until to-morrow (Ist of December), and there is no Governor here to fuither prorogue it. Here is a case. If no one puts in an appearance and the meeting lapses, whatever will become of the country ! Such a shock to established Parliamentary usage is enough to make one's hair stand on end Evidently the Ministers have been napping again, as they were found when the Act abolishing imprisonment for debt came into force. We suppose the Wellington members will put in an appearance as ÜBual, and claim their honorarium for the session. Could not old Piizherbert turn the affdir to accouut, and by mustering strongly with his forces upset the whole constitution ? Keally the results that may ensue are awful to contemplate, and we await the issue with suspended breaih.
