Mr Hoskins and Miss Colville play a star engagement at the Victorian Theatre. The handwriting of the letter supposed to be Madame Goddard's to Mrßennett has been recently compared with that of Miss Christian, and found identical. This corroborates Madame Goddard's denial of the authorship.
New Caledonian advices report that VVallenstein wa3 tried and acquitted of aiding Roehfort's escape. Admiral Ribout's investigation is to be continued by Commissioners. Orders have been received that no Communists shall be allowed to receive money, except through the hands of officials. The Presbyterian Assembly has adopted resolutions in favour of the elimination of denominationalism from the public school system, and of compulsory education as far as practicable. —Mr Fairclough and company, including our old friend McGowan, at the Queen's Theatre, have been drawing crowded houses during the week. —Tho Kennedy family have opened at the School of Arts.— Mr. Frank Towers has taken a benefit at the Victoria Theatre.
