DUNEDIN. (Per Press Telegram Agency.) This day. Mr Hawthorne, rector of the High-school, is dangerously ill, and there are very slight hopes of his recovery. He has been suffering since the 9th inst. from inflamation of the lungs. Criminal proceedings have commenced against Mcllroy, of Christchurch, re the barque Comet case. R. B. Harden, sworn, said he never authorised the accused to act as his agent. The Portobello Company has fired for choice of district representatives. An excellent score was made by Volunteer Dickson, 97 ; McCarthy, 94 ; and three others over SO. "
