THE APPOINTMENT OF MR BOWEN.
LYTTELTO3ST. (From Press Telegraph Agency.)
This day.
In reply to the remarks of the New Zealand Times, regarding Mr Bowen's appointment. The LylteUon Times considers such an attack from papers so largely the property of Mr Vogel, and essentially his mouthpiece is of extraordinary significance. It is in a position to state that Mr Bowen in relinquishing the civil service for a political career retires altogether from the former, therefore there is no resemblance between his case and Mr Gisboine. The Times congratulates the colouy on the appointment.
