NORTH SHORE ROWING CLUB.

An enthusiastic and well attended meeting was held last night at the Masonic Hotel, North Shore, for the pui-pose of forming a Rowing Club for that district. We may commence by stating that the proposition was eagerly received and acted upon. Tha names of the greater part of those present smacked strongly of the " briny " nearly all of them being identified with the shipping interests of the port, Niccol, Burgess, Duder, Dacre, Marshall, Nolan, Henderson, are names carrying weight in athletic councils, and victory in many a contest. All were here represented with many others nearly as potent. Malcolm Niccol, Esq., was voted to the chair, and opened the proceedings in a business-like manner. Mr Cameron moved and Mr H. Niccol seconded the first resolution, which was as follows : " That a Club to be called the North Shore Eowing Club be formed." This was carried with acclamation. The following officers were then elected for the present season :— President, Mr J. B. Russell; vice-president, Mr M. Niccol; captain, Mr G. H. Fletcher ; secretary, Mr R. H. Nolan; treasurer, Mr W. Cameron. Committee, Messrs T. JNiccol, Cochrane, Hill, Alison, Thorne. After a short discussion the subscription of members was fixed at £1 per annum, with an entrance fee of the same. Nearly twenty gentlemen gave in their names as members of the Club. An adjournment was at this point agreed upon till the 19th instant, to enable the committee to bring up a code of rules, &c, for general consideration.
