The Chanticleer, from Auckland, arrived at Melbourne on the Ist.
H.M. corvette Blanche arrived at Sydney on the 3rd from Wellington. A Sunday paper, satirical and heterodox, called the Sunday Newsman, is to be issued for tbe first time at Sydney on Sunday next. Melbourne Races—Second day, per Otago : — Maiden Plate of 100 soys, with 200 soys added—Scan Meg, 1 ; King Philip, 2; Menid c, 3 ; time 2min. 3Gsee. Betting was level on the winner. Railway Stakes of 5 soys, 100 soys added— Stockbridge, with 71b penalty, 1 ; Polidori, 2 ; Barmaid, 3. Melbourne and Mute scratched. Stockbridge made a hot favorite before the race, and won easily. Time 2min IGsec. Kensington Stakes of 200 soys, won by Richmond by two lengths ; Fraternal, 2; Manuka's colt, 3. Level on Richmond. Time lmin 9aec.
