S INCH the departure of the steamer Rangatiraand schooner Dauntless nothing worthy of chronicling has occurred but a most extraordinary fall of rain, together with tempest of wind and thunder storms. Samuels, in the absence of Captain Norris, on which occasion there was a remarkably good muster. The men were put through the usual exercise and skirmishing drill, which they executed with great precision. AH, with the exoeption of three or four, were in uniform, and one or two were conspicuous as wearers of several medals of honor. Lieut. Samuels has i-eceived an official notification that he is now passed as qualified to receive his commission.
