Ka hiahia te pokiha kia kainga etahi hei whakaora i tana mate. Ano ka roa noa tana mahi pekepeke te taea nga kerepi, ka boha ia ka haere : a ka tahuii whakai ki nga kerepi, ka mea, " He mea noa enei kerepi e taea noatia e ahau ; otira na te kawa ahau V kai ai." He penei hoki te tangata te taea te mea i hiahiatia e ia ka mea kahore ana pai ki tana mea; kite mea he pai tana ka riro mai ano.

Tere ana te poaka ite wai, ngaro noa te wairua. Ka pouri nga whakaaro o te kararehe, ka mea ia, " Ka tahi ano te kuware ko ahau ! E hopu ana ahau ite wairua ka ngaro te tino mea. He tini hoki nga tangata ka whakarere i r> ratou kainga pai nga kainga i nui ai te kai te taonga ma ratou, ka haere ki etahi kainga ke kite rapu taonga ma ratou :a ka mahue o ratou kainga kahore ano hoki e whiuhi ki nga mea i hiahia ai ratou.
