Mr C. B. Thacker, Akaroa County chairman, who sent an apology to yesterday's meeting of the council is at present m Christchurch undergo-ir-g medical treatment.
Mr W. Kearney of the Christchurch "Press" staff, is spending his annual leave in Akaroa and is staying with Mr and Mrs J. Glynan.
Mr J. McKenkie and Miss G. Waters (Asliburton) spent the Labour week-end with Mr McKenzie's parents, Mr and Mrs T. E. McKenzie, Jolie street.
The Chi'istchurch "Welcome Club" it, doing excellent work in entertaining the soldiers on leave from the military camps in Canterbury.
At a recent meeting of the Mothers' Union in Christchurch during Synod week it was decided that the various branches would contribute cakes, butter and fresh eggs etc. for the 4th November. The Akaroa branch is glad of this opportunity to help.
Miss Mary Henning is on a visit to her parents Mr and Mrs Basil Henning, "Ci'ookston", Akaroa.
Mr and Blrs Jamieson (Christchurch), paid a visit to Mr and Mrs Helps "Mount Pleasant", Akaroa during Labour week-end.
Miss Joan Cantrell (Worcester Street, Christchurch) and Miss C. Thomas (Lyltelton) visited Akaroa at Labour week-end.
Mr and Mrs H. Youngman (Bealey street, Christchurch), are visiting Mr and Mrs F. Newton, Aylmer's Valley.
Miss Mavis Vanstone (Christchurch), has been visiting her parents Mr and Mrs H. Vanstone, Little River.
Mrs Fahey (Christchurch), has been visiting her daughter Mrs A. Radford Little River.
Mr and Mrs J. C. Hnrty (Christchurch), have been visiting relatives iii iLttle River.
