AKAROA HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE A meeting of the general committee of the Akaroa Horticultural Society was held on Tuesday evening when Mr F. Davis, President, was in the chair.
The Mayor of Lyttelton wrote asking for a schedule of the Spring Show as their society wanted to see if they could add to their own schedule which was enclosed.
The Secretary, Mr W. H. Davis, reported having sent on the schedule and his action was approved.
Accounts amounting to £2 Is 8d were passed for payment The Hon. Treasurer reported that there had been a loss of £2 3s 3d on the Spring Show but there had been a good display of flowers. The late season had resulted in fewer entries.
The President said the Show had been a great success and he again thanked the promoters for all their worfl.
It was decided to hold the Rose Show on Tuesday, November 28th.
It was left to Mrs G. Kearney and Miss E. Jacobson ,to revise the schedule for the Show.
Mr J. Truman reported that he would build another set of trestles before the Rose Show. He had seen some trestles at the Christchurch Show where Mr Geo. Lewis had explained how they were made.
Mr Truman was thanked for all his trouble with the making of the trestles.
Mr W. H. Davis offered a special additional prize of 5/- to the Children's crayon drawing of a plate of pansies and he was thanked for the offer.
