ROMANS ATE SANDWICHES
The Eaii of Sandwich, who usually gets credit as the inventor, of the sandwich, merely revived interest in this food and gave it a modern name, according to the National Geographic Society. The Romans ate sandwiches centuries before the time of the English lord. They knew them under the name of offula, the diminutive form of offa, meaning a bit or morsel.
