SANDERS CUP COMMITTEE
SUBSTANTIAL CREDIT BAUANCE.
A meeting of the Sanders Cup Committee which carried out the local arrangements for the holding of the Sanders Cup at Akaroa was held on Tuesday evening to decide what should be done with a balance of £52 after pay all liabilities. There were present His Worship the Mayor, in the chair, and Messrs B. W. Henning, IL. J. Vangioni, G. Whelch, W. Quested, J. Ramsay, G. Davidson, T. iE. MclKenzie, W. Jacobson, Rev. J. C. MdCaw and P. G. Riches, Hon. Sec.
The secretary read l the audited balance sheet which showed a credit of £52.
Mr Davidson said he thought the balance was a most satisfactory one. He thought they had l been very ably assisted by Mr Riches, the Hon. Secretary, who had' done so much work in connection with the Sanders Cup. He hoped the outboard motor events would, as they had proved interesting and a great attraction be- continued. He nroved a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Riches for his good' services. Seconded by Mr Ramsay and carried with accla-
mation,
Mr Henning showed' photos of the Sanders Cup event and it was' decided to enlarge same and to present three framed copies to Messrs Friedman, Barnes , who had assisted so well- with their launch as official boat and to the Akaroa Borough Council to. be kept in the Chambers to commemorate the event.
The balance sheet was adopted on the motion of Mr J. MdCaw, seconded by Mr McKenzie.
DISPOSAL OF FUNDS.
j Mr Davidson suggested paying back the £2$ to the Regatta Committee which they had granted to the Sanders Cup Committee. Mr Henning moved the £25 be' paid back to the Akaroa: Regatta Committee and they be thanked for their support; seconded by Mr Vangioni and carried. The 1 Akaroa Advancement Association wrote asking for assistance towards expenses occurred in advertising Akaroa for Sanders Cup week. Mr Mcl Caw moved the Advancement Association be paid £10' towards this advertising; seconded by Mr Ramsay and carried.
MAKING A SUCCESS OF REGATTA
The question of the disposal of the balance was fully discussed, and the general feeling of the members of the Sanders Cup Corrimittee was that they should' carry on as members of the [Regatta Committee and extend the scope of that annual
event
Mr Henning said he thought the Boating Club should run the regatta. They were an amateur body and could do so.
