VISIT OF H.M.S. NEW ZEALAND.
We believe that wheu the H.M.S. New Zealand comes to New Zealand she will visit the Akaroa harbour. The Dreadnought ia now preparing for her departure to this country, so that it will not be long before she is in New Zealand waters. The townrpeople should make some arrangements for the entertainment of the ship when in the harbour. As has been- remarked before, tho Akaroa people always treat the boats very well, but usually the vessel comes here unexpectedly, and all arrangements for entertaining the guests are very hurried. It would be as well to be in readiness for the visit of the famous Dreadnought, and for the Borough Council to take the matter in band and have n committee formed to arrange as to the manner of entertaining the guess. A programme could he drawn up previously. It would b , is well, perhaps, to ask the crew to give the townspeople a con cert while in Akaroa in aid of one of the local clubs. The Akaroa Regatta (Jomu.iltfce might well secure the services of the sailors to give them a •small Miira to come and go upon for next Anniversary Day's programme. Id would be an excellent idea if, when his Worship the Mayor paid hie official call, he could give the captain of the vessel an outline of the arrangements made for the entertainment of the boat. Residents here have had so many warships in port that they know exactly the class of entertainment that delights the sailor. A preliminary arrangement is pro ferable as obviating a hurried programme worked up at the last minute and not generally made public, so that the attendance is poor and depressing.
