AKAROA COUNTY RACES.
These races come off to-day, and the weather favourable we expect a record attendance. Never have there been such good acceptances, and for every stake there will be the keenest competition. The course is in good order and many improvements have been made, whilst the grand stand has been completed and painted. We may, therefore, expect to see this favourite of all county racing meetings a great success this year. "Country Bumpkin " has an idea the following horses will run into places, but we are in no way responsible for his hallucinations:—
Hurdles.—Buster, Nikola. Maiden.—Lady Doctor, White May, Cup.—Ragabrash, Sandy. District Welter. — Secret Society, Clanburn.
District Trot.—Log Cabin, Kate. Flying.—Te Taiaha, Ccn v eand Blue, Open Welter.—Clanburn, Narcissus, Open Trot.—Result. Coo-ee.
A correspondent writes: —ln looking through the list of acceptances for the Open r lrot, I have come to the following conclusion :— If you go out for a day's Amusement bar Accident it will Result in Mirth.
