! A meeting of the Akaroa Regatta Committee took place last night at the Oddfel* lows' Hall. Present—His Worship the Mayor in the chair, and Messrs Jacquet, Henning, Gray, Lynskey, Michell. C. Newton, Bruc., Daly, Loete, Ditely, Pjol, and Jacobson. MINOTH9. The minutes of the prior meeting were read and confirmed. < STATEMENT. Tiie Hon. Seo. stated he had written to '

He hed sent ihe programme to the New Zealand Amateur Ruwiug Associa'ion and Canterbury Geutre, an I it had passed with small alterations. The programme as revited had been in the AitAROA MAit and in f iti e Christchurch papers. ,He had also oornrnil .i cited with, tbe members, of j,he country committee and sent out subscription lists. He had written to the member,. Captain Rhodes, asking him to use his influence to have a warship preseut at the Rpgd'ta. With regard to the warship, Captain Rhodes had received a reply from the Premier; stating that .application had beep made through the Governor for a matt of war td be present on Regatta Day as reqti.l cd. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following < fficers were then elected : Starter—Mr A. K. Cr.dd.ck ; Judges— Messrs G. Armstrong, j'., Bruce, Virtue, F, E. It wa. resolved the steam launch should b. employed td follow racesj that Mr Collins' Marine B&ud should ba engaged to come down in the excursion steamer, that t« oners be called for Regatta privileges, Ind failing satisfactory applications being rec-ived, ihat they be sold by auc ion on Sa'urday, Dtcember sth ; thab the Hon. Sec write to the Borcugh Council ior u.e of Reserve near the whatf; that the handicaps should be open in time for them to appear nn race cards Mr Henning stated that the Terawera would be the excursion ship on Regatta Day On the motion of Mee.ra Lyhskey and Michell, it was resolved that the U.S.S; Co be requested to make the time of the departure of the exoursion steamer from Akaroa 5 p.m. Instead of 4 p.m, The courses and rules of last y_ar were adopted.
