COMING OF AGE.

Ou Thursday night la.t Mr and Mrs E.K* Lelievre, of Oinaka, gave a ball in honour of the coming of age ol their eldost son, Mr Stanley C. Lelievre. It had been arranged to hold the dance on Oct. 30th, tbe young gentleman's birthday ; but the measles epi* demic obliged them to put it eff till Thursday last, Nov. 19tb. However, in spite of this delay and the very bad weather, a large number of friends came to help celebrate the coming of tge, and a most enjoyable function it proved. Supper was laid outside in a 1. rge marquee, close to the stream, Oinaka, and the gvy lights and greenery gave the supper room a fairy-like appearance. At supper time Mr Orbell, in a neat Utile Bpeech, proposed the health of the heir, to whioh the young gentleman replied in a few well'chosen words, The health was drunk with mu-ical houours iv the regal wine. Mr ...uce then proposed tbe health of the host md hostess who, he raid, were always to ho fore with their help where other people's pleasure was concerned. Mr E. K. Lelievre replied, thanking all the many friends who had given them their kind wishea and ex' pressed a hope that on many future occaa*. ions he might be able te welcome all present to his hou.o Dancing was continued to an early hour next morning, and every guest came away with pleasant memories of a very successful ball.
