October 15. The Borough of Dannevirke Eleotrio Power and Loan Empowering Bill (Mr Hall) was introduced by 58 votes to 4 and read a first time. The Gold Duties Bill, Crown Grants Act Amendment Bill and Products Export Bill passed their final stages on the voices. Mr Arnold's amendment, that the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act Amendment Bill should be committed, was lost, After some further discussion, the Bill passed its final stages on the voices. The Auimala Proteotion Act Amendment Bill was recommitted, and passed its final stages on the voices. The Local Bodies Loan Aob Amendment Bill was recommitted, and a new clause inserted. The Queen's Scholarships Bill passed through Committee. October 16.

The Regulation of Local Elections Act Amendment Bill and Naval Subsidy Bill were introduced by Governor's message and read a first time.

(The Premier moved the second reading of the Aid to Public Works and Land Settlement Bill, to authorise the raising of £1,000,000, in aid of certain public works and purposes; A very long diecuseion ensued, Mr Duthie moving as an amendment:—"That in the opinion of the House, the schedule of the Bill should definitely set out the proposed expenditure on each line of railway," The Premi'r said the Government could not accept the amendment. October J6. After a heated discussion, Mr Duthie's amendment was lost by 33 to 7. The Premier, in the course of his reply, said he considered Mr M*s ey, ai leader of the Opposition, should havj brought forward the amendment. The second reading waa carried by 38 votea to 4.
