LITTLE RIVER V. AKAROA.

The annual match between the above Clubs was played on the Recreation Ground on Saturday afternoon, in the presence of a large number of spectators. The day was perfect, and the ground for the first time this soason being dry and in capital order. The game was fast and interesting, and resuited in a draw, neither side scoring.

Little River won the toss, and defended the southern goal with wind in their favour. Akaroa kicked off, and at once began an at* taok, Nutt removed danger with a long kick; play settling iv centre. Scrum followed sorum, the ball being passed to Macdonald who was pushed near the Bed line. Lynsked and Glynan headod a Red rush to mid field. Shortly after J. Mor& got posees' eioD, and ended a spleudid dodgy run within a foot of the visitors' line. Akaroa pressed the Yellows hard, and penalty being given them, had a fruitless shot at goal. In the second spell, the Red forwards made things meny, and kept up a continual attack. Dacre, Nutt, and McDonald were prominent in staving off danger, and the forwards headed by Moko and Shankland occasionally broke away, A passing rush between Munro, Vangioni, and Mora leb the last named away, but he was pulled down on the line. The visitors were kept busy defending, being forced several times. The defence proved sound, however, and the game ended without score by either side The visitors were entertained at a dinner after the match.

L football match will be played, between Akaroa and German Hay, at Akaroa, on Thursday next, at 2,30 p.m. sharp.
