AKAROA COUNTY RACING CLUB.

The annual meeting of this Olub was held at the Hill Top Hotel, Little River, on Saturday. Present-Messrs H. D. Buchanan, E B. Lelievre, Ci. Bradley, J. Parkinson, h, Parkinion, S. Harrie, 8. Nutt, M. Knight. H. C. Jacobson, and T. Quealy (Hon. Bee.) Apologies were read for the unavoidable absence of Messrs -Tno, Montgomery, J. F. Buchanan, W. F. Parkinson and R. Paton. Mr H D. Buchanan woe eleoted to the chair. MINUTES. The mlnntes of the prior meeting were read and confirmed. BEPORT. TheHon Sec. reported that since the last annual meeting one of the most respected members of the Olub, Mr W. D. Gebbie, had passed away Due messages of oondolence had been sent to the family. The report, went on to state the work the meeting had to do, and continued :-Bince last annual meeting fresh arrangements have been made with Messrs Hobbs and Goodwin for working totalieator, viz., for the firsb£lOoO 3 per cent., and over that sum 1% per cent. Relative to grand stand, you are all aware that Mr Nutt has been munifioent in having consented to pay the entire cost of thie work, amounting to about) £158, as per plan prepared by Messrs Harman and Collins, who save their services gratis. It was found, however, that to make the etructure entirely satisfactory some extras were required, and these were ordered by the Stand Committee and cost the Olub£67. In addi tion to this outlay most of the Olub a reoeiots were below those of the previous year—hence the credit balance is not so large as ueual. . A great deal of trouble was experienced through the disqualification of the winner fn the Maiden Plate race, ac well as loss through the machine, and it would be desirable, if practicable, to ascertain as to the ellgiblenbss of competing horses prior to the start, or still earlier, if W*™*We have obtained from the Railway Department the announcement that a train service will, ia future, be granted for the races without the uiual guarantee. The Chairman said the balance to credit wae £60 less than last year, bub taking into consideration the extra expenditure, inclnd' ing £67 for extras for grand stand, he oon aidcred it eminently satisfactory. He moved the adoption of the balance sheet. Mr E. E. Lelievre seconded, and after some cordial remarks from Mr Bradley as to the satisfactory financial position of the Club, the balance sheet was unanimously adopted. ELECTION O? OFFICEBS A telegram was received from Mr L. Wil* son, resigning his position as Judge. A letter was also read from Mr J. O. C. Gebbie, resigning his post ac Steward, as he found he wae uoable to regularly attend the meetings.

DSLEGATES The aotion of the Chairman and Messrs Bradley and Latter in appointing Messrs Grigg and W. Thompson, as delegates of the Club at the Racing Conference, was approved. NEW MEMBERS Messrs Orton Gebbie, H. R, Nutt and J, Bowes were elected members of the Club, VOTES OF THANKS Very hearty votes of thanke were passed to Ihe retiring officers, special mention being made of the great eervioes rendered by Messrs T, Qnealy and 8, Harris. NOTICES OF MOTION, The followine notices of motion were given for the next general meeting :— 'The Chairman to move—That all honorary unpaid officers of the Club be entitled to act as Stewards, and that any part of any reso lution antagonistic to this be resoinded. Mr O; Bradley to move—That in future the Raoing District comprise the two Counties of Akaroa and Mt Herbert and the two Borouchs of Lyttelton and Akaroa Mr M. P: Knight to move —That the Club will not recognise leased horses as the bona fide property of residents in the dlstriot A vote of thanks to the Chairman termin ated the meeting.
