ORDINARY MEETING.

The ordinary monthly meeting was then held. Present—Messrs E. Goodwin (chair*. man), R. S. Hay, Jno. Pettigrew, and W. Corrigall. Mr Goodwin apologised for the absenoe of Mr McKay.

The minutes of the prior meeting were read and confirmed.

Correspondence was read :— From Messrs W. Meczies and 0. P.. Kay, asking for a grant of £12 for repairs to roads in Decanter Jiay. From Mr J. H. Menzies, asking Board to improve grade of road leading to his son'B property, estimating cost at about £50. From Messrs Beswick and Harris, stating that the plans of Hunt and Pettigrew's road had been sent to the surveyor for correction and would be completed shortly. From Clerk County Council, asking Board to take necessary steps to have poisoned wheat distributed through the district. Board agreed that surfacemen spread same.

From Mr W. Adosk, asking for date of letting grass seed on roads in district. ;■ The Clerk was instructed to furnish Bame. From Messrs Duncan and Cotterill, asking for copy of Gazette containing the Order in Council, showing that the Governor had consented to Btopping of road through Mr W. Menzies' property. The Clerk stated same had been furnished From Land and Income Tax Department, stating that £97 5a Bd, subsidy for year 1932-1903 had been placed to the Board's credit.

Mr Pettigrew moved, and Mr Hay so' conded—That Messrs Menzieß and Kay's request for a Bum of £12 for repairs bo granted, subject to the work being done to the satisfaction of the Board and themselves and labour being available at Decanter.

Mr Pettigrew moved, and Mr Hay se* conded—Tnat a consisting of himself and Mr Goodwin, interview Mr W. H. Menzies, re alteration of grade of Menzies Bay road, and report at next meeting. Carried. '

The Foreman, Mr Lyall, reported ( he had inspected most of the by roads, and found the Port Levy road in fair order. The Valley road was in a bad state, a good many small slips being down. A week's work would put the worst places in repair, and he thought this should be done as soon as weather was favourable. The men had finished Pettigrew's and Bunt's road, and were now ergßged on Reynish's road, which would take about eight days to finish. Several places on Main road required a few lo«ds of metal. ..-:.-. ...,.,.; Resolved that a.horse team be engaged for day patching as required on Main xoad ; also to put Valley road in repair, as soon as Reynish's road was completed, unless the weather was fine enough for metal carting on Holmes' Bay, which should be proceeded with first. Mr Cerrigall moved, and Mr R. S. Hay seconded, that tenders be called for the right to cut cocksfoot on the various roads in the district, tenders to be in by next Board day, the highest or any tender nob necessarily accepted. Carried, Mr Pettigrew reported that the contraob on Fernhill road would be furnished in the course of a week or ao, if the weather held good. Mr R. S. Hay moved, and Mr Pettigrew seconded, that the following accounts be passed for payment :— J. Walker £5 lis 2d, H. Lloyd £1 &, J r Craw £5 17s sd. J. Austin and Son £14 14l 4d, A. Scott £9 7<* 6d, W. Lyall £5 8b 6d, Pitcaithlv _ Co. £8 9s Bd, C. Knudsen £2 8s 6d,' Audit 6s Bd. Carried. The Beard then adjourned till October 3rd.
