Tbe Agent-General cables: —" There are signs of improvement in the cocksfoot seed market; but as yet no change in prices. The average price for bright, clean New Zealand cocksfoot 171bs per bushel is 46s per cwt., c.i.f., London. American crop is estimated to be below the average in quantity and quality."

tions was considering the prosecution of E. T. Hooley, as two Judges in recent cases had described his actions as fraudulent.

The Board of Trade returns for July show that the imports increased by £1,566,360, and the exports increased by £153,625.

In the strike disturbance at Nikolieff, in Southern Russia, the troops killed twelve and wounded two hundred rioters, who tried to storm the Government spirit depot.

It is computed that during the last month 200 strikers have been killed and two thousand wounded.
