Kennedy waited on the Board to ask that Mount Boaau, Valley, Cemetery, Beach, and lower end of Jubilee Ro-ide should be metalled. Tboy pointed oat these roads became almost impassable in the winter time, and rendered it unnecessarily difficult to delivor milk at the Wainui Factory. After the deputation had thanked the Board and withdrawn, a discussion on the whole question of metalling roads throughout the district took place, and it was resolved —That the Board meet as a Committee at J10.30 am, on Wednesday, Aug. 12th, to consider the question of metal ling all roada throughout the district that urgently require it and raising a loan for that purpoie. children's bay. Mrs W. Jacobson wrote as under :—" I wish to Oil! your attention to the state of the road leading round to Carenage (Childreu'fe) Bay, and ask if you cannot place a stmll portion of the metal (so frequently carted away from here) at each end of the road, i.c , extend the metal already od the middle cf the road to the corner, and a little round my way, and a little at the other end towards the coach road. About half a chain at each end, commencing from where the metal at present ends, would, I believe, rm-.ke this road fairly passable in moib weathers. As it is, at present, you have to wade through a bog at eaoh end." It was resolved the work should be done as soon aa drays could be procured foe the purpoie.

WILSON'S ROAD

Mr T. LeComte wrote as under:— M I bog to ask if your Board would be good enough to effect some repairs to what ii, '

known as Wilson's road, as in some places the centre of road is scoured right out. Two men oould do all that is required in about 3 days."

Dennis', [fc will take three men three days to finish Robinson's Bay out. Up to Thnrsday 136 yards of beaoh, and 65 yards of broken tnetal have been put on Valley road, cix at the bottom end of New Valley road. A boggy piece, about ten chains, ou the New Valley road, requires metalling. This cannot be pub on before he leaves there, as road is newly crowned up, and the metal would sink out of eight there now. A culvert at this place was opened up, and wall raised 15 inches, and an outlet cut to creek When he has finished the Valley road will be re-metalled from Morgan's down to the beaoh. He has not had time to attend to Paweon's Valley footbridges, bat hopes to be there next week. Two slips came out between Barry's Bay and French Farm, and two men cleaned them off on Wednesday last. On Thursday last one slip had come right across the road, blocking traffic. Men are clearing! it off to-day. He wishes to draw Board's attention to the fact that Mr F. Mr A. Johnson reports that since last meeting he has filled in and crowned ap Beach road ready for metal. Two stone culverts were put in, and the culverts shifted, and 34 yards of metal put on, as this road is rather flat. Ho recommended that ten yards to the chain be pat on.
