PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturdy August 1. Preseut— Messrs E, Goodwin (chairman), J. Pettigrew, R. 8- Hay, and W. Corrigall. Minutes of prior meeting were read and and confirmed.

Correspondence was read from—Mr A. Scott resigning his position as foreman of the Board as from August 31, 1903. From H. Lloyd asking for share of any Burface work available.

From Duntan &Cotterill asking for duplicate plan of W. Meczieß' deviation.—The Clerk was instrue'ed to see to same.

The foreman reported that two new cul verts were required on Pettigiew's road, two also required renewing. Resolved that pipes be prooured as required, and left in Mr Pettigrew's bauds to have them put in where required. Mr Pettigrew moved and Mr Hay seconded that Mr A. Soott'B resignation be accepted. Carried. Resolved that the position of foreman to the Board be offered to Mr W. Lyall, in the event of his nob accepting the Clerk to oall for applications to be in by next Foard day. Mr Pettigrew moved and Mr Corrigall seconded that Mr Lloyd be given a trial on the road when any men were required. Carried. The Chairman reported that timber for oulvert near whatf was being procured. Timber for handrails for bridge had been ordered, and Mr Dixon was to erect same as soon as possible. The outorop of Btcne on Holmes' Bay road had been opened up and showed a fair face of stone. Drays had been engaged to cart metal, but the bad weather had prevented anything being done. He also drew the Board's attention to drags being ueed on Bledges on two of the bye roads in the district and thought the same should not be allowed, as it tore up the formation, aud if wet weather came on the ruts becomewater channels.

After some discussion it was resolved tha f a notice be placed on noiica Board, warning the public that legal proceedings will be taken against any person found using diagn on roads in the district)-

Mr J. Pettigrew moved the notice of motion standing in his name—That a general rate of fd in the £ be struck and col leoted on the capital value of the Pigeon Bay District, payable in one sum on Monday, 17th August. 1903. Seconded by Mr W. Corrigall and carried The Chairman and Mr J. Pettigrew were appointed to sign rate roll. On the motion of Mr R. 8. Hay, seconded by Mr W. Corrigall, the following accounts were paised for payment:—A. Bcott £9 18s 9d, J. Crane £6 12s 2d, J as, £6 8s 7d, W, Lyall £1 14s 2d,

The Board then adjourned till Saturday sth Sptember, 1903.
