Kishnieff Outrages. — Two peasants have been arrested on a charge of murdering RybaleDza, the youth whose murder was attributed to Kishnieff Jews for ritual purposes. One of the peasants confessed to the crime. Thb Poru's Death—Father Kennedy informs us that he intends holding a Requiem Mass at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. He will preach a panegyric on the life of Leo XfIL The service would have taken place earlier had Fat'rer Kennedy not been absent.

Akaeoa District High Souool.— A Committee meeting was held last evening ; present—Messrs Bruce (Chairman), Dodds, Munro and Chappell. Correspondence was read from the Board, approving the list of requisites forwarded for use of the High School, and stating that the Clerk of Works would come down to see the leaks in the roof. The Chairman was authorised to write to the Board re Truant Cffiier, the report of attendance being not at all good. The Chairman reported that the covering of the well in the school ground had fallen in, the decking being rotten. He had had it re-covered, but reoommended that it should be filled in. It was decided to do this when the weather Improved.

Thh Takapdna Abhors,—The Takapuna took the ground when entering the New Plymouth harbour shortly before eight on Friday morning. It was dead low water, and spring tides, with heavy northerly roll. She giounded on a fandy bottom, an became unmanageable, but when the tide made she got off and steamed alongside the v/harf about eleven o'clock. It is believed no damage is done.

Fxplosion ih Noumea.—A fearful explos ion occarred in the business part of Noumea on Friday. Hundreds of people aseambled on hearing the terrible report. A tinsmith was putting a tap in an iron alcohol drum without removing the bung. The drum exploded, decapitating the tinsmith, his head beirg blown several feet away. The chief engineer of the steamer France, who was watching, with his eight year old son, was blown several feet. The former hud his face and eye blown off, and the latter was badly injured. Is la feared that both will die.

The managers of the Volunteer fleet have b'en warned to prepare for the early withdrawal of all vessels from the commercial tervice. Mr Justice Jeune reserved judgment on the point whether the petitioner's adultery would justify him in diimi9sing the petition.

Akaroa Police Station. -Our member, Captain Rhodes, forwarded to His Worship the Mayor the following official communication from the Minister for Pnblio Works :— " Referring to the letter of 6th inst., which you received from the Mayor of Akaroa, to the effect that the shareholders in the Akaroa Town Hall Company had pas-ed a resolution offering to sell the Town Hall site, exolusive of buildings, to the Govern' ment for the turn of £10 ,1 have mw the honour to stato that the Government aocepts the offer, and the Crown Solicitor will be duly instructed to prepare a conveyance nf the Crown, for the purpose of erecting a police station thereon.
