EMPIRE DAY SPORTS.
A meeting of those interested in the above sports was held in the Oddfellows' Hall side room on Tuesday evening last, Mr Geo. Armstrorg, junr, occupying the Chair.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confitined.
The balance shtet, which ha 1 been audited and found correct, was read, showing that . m tha previous year's sports had been most a«cae3=ful. The Soeretarp had paid the i urn cf £5 lis 9d deficit from last year, and the amount owing now was only £1 lis Id. This was considered .atisfactcry, and the b.lauce sheer, as read, w»3 adopted. J After discussion as to the advisability of holding the sports on June 3rd (Prince of Wales' Birthday), it was decided, on the proposition of Mr 8. Wright, seconded by Mr T. Penlington, that the usual sports be - held on Empire Day (May 25th), Mr Ingram intimated his desire to be re- _ lieved of the duties of Secretary, Treasure of business preventing him giving sufficient lime to the duties required of him. Mr G. Armstrong, jut r , consented to act as Secietary, which was unanimously agreed to. The following t fficers were then appointed :—Patron, Mr W. H. Montgomery ; President, His Worship the Mayor; Viae Presidents, Meisra R, H. Rhodes, M.H.R., m E. E. Lelievre, Henning, Robinson G. B. Mackay, Virtue, Westenra and Dr. Har« greaves ; Judpee, Messrs H W. Piper, Checkley, E. E. Lelievre and Daly ; Cleiks rf Course, Messrs S. Wright and Mich'll; starter, Mr B. G. Robinson ; timekonper, Mr E. E. Lelievre ; entry takers Hon ceo , Mr Wolfreys ; Ground Committee, M c»is Checkley, Daly, T. Penlicgfon a.d Gay ; General Committee, Messrs Bruce, Bur and, Checklev, R.
