Wednesday. Messrs. H. Matson &, Co. report:— Entries comprised 9764 sheep and lambs, 362 head of cattle, and 374 pigs. The entry of beef woe made up of 226 heod, the bulk of which were good, useful tteers and heifers. The supply was in excees of the demand, and this caused a slacknees in the bidding, and where 1 ufinesa was done it was at a slight reduction on last week's prices, except for the very pmmst. Per head, beat steer* brought from £6 to £7 15s; ordinary to gotd do £3 10s to £5; heifers from £3 15s to £6 15s ; cows £2 10s to £6 ss. Per 1001b prime beef ran from 15s to 17s 6d ; medium to good 12s 6d to 14s 6d, and cow and inferior from 7s 6d to 11b. The stores were nearly all aged cows, and were taken ffrr preserving at from 10s to 255. There was a good yarding of fat sheep, including i ome very good lines of wethers and maiden ewes but trade ewes contained a large proportion of aged and inferior animals. The sale was irregular, and towards the close a decided drop took place for anything that was not prime. Fat wethers brought fjom 12s 7d to 17s 9d, maiden ewss 11s 6d to 15s Id, mixed wethers and maiden ewes 10s 9d to 13s 3d, best trade ewes 10s to 13s, aid inferior to Jood 5s to 8s 6d; Mr. W. Pator, flohnee' lay, cold crof sbred ewes at 13s. There was » good entry of fat lamb*, including some very good torte for freezing. Backward weihers brought 7s 5d to 9s 6d, store lambs 6s, a line of 300 ewes in lamb 7s 9d, and otl.ers 6b, merino wethera 2s lid, and crossbred boilers 2s 2d to 3s 6d. A lairly large yarding of pigs included some good sorts of fats, which met good competition, porkers ranging from 4d to and bacouers about 4d.
