AKAROA ATHLETIC SPORTS.

A meeting of the Sports Committee was held in the Oddfellows' Hall side room on Friday evening last, the President, Mr A. I. McGregor in the chair. The minutes of the prior meeting were confirmed, and the annual report and balance sheet duly prepared were considered and approved. The general annual meeting was then held, there being a good attendance. The annual report and balance sheet running as follows were read :— Gentlemen, — Your Committee in presenting the annual report and balancen sheet, regre f that owing to various causes the meeting on last Easter Monday was not so financially successful as its predecessors. Although the prize money distiibuted was considerably increased, the entries and subscriptions unfortunately totalled less. The different events on the programme evoked good sport, some of the finishes being very close. Trusting that the forthcoming meeting will recoup the Association. For the Committee— A. 1. Balance Sheet—Credit : Balance, £1 10s 6d, entries £11 13- 5 , entertainment £14 14s 6d,b01l £8 15?, privileges 15?, subset iptions £7 ss, loau from Hon. Sec. £5 13s ss. Total—£44 16s sd. Debit : Prize money £2S 5 , labour £1 10s, cap and medals £2 10s, printing £5 ss. Hall £3, music £1 10s, sundries £1 3s sd, balance to credit Bank of >ew Zealand 13s. Total £44 16s sch Audited and found correct. T. E. Taylor, On the motion of His Worship the' Mayor, seconded by Mr B. Penlington, the report and balance-sheet were unanimously adopted. Hβ moved a very hearty vote of thanks be accorded. Seconded by Mr T. Penliugton and carried.
