BARRY'S BAY DAIRY FACTORY.
A correspondent writes:—On Friday last the Directors and suppliers of the above factory held a most enjoyible evening in their buildings at Barry's B*y. Invitations had bd'en liberally issued, and tha weather being favourable, and the roads dry, visitors poured in from all quarters. Rarely, if ever, baa such a gathering been held on tbe Peninsula, considerably over a hundred boing present. Under the able supervision of Mr R. Pettigrew, dancing commenced punctually nt 8 o'clock ti the excellent mueio ot Me«srs G PettigrW' and W. X- Henderson; This, combined with a beautifully smooth floor and tbe perfect harmony prevailing among tha guests, rendered, tbe evening most delightful. Supper was served at 11.30 p.m., and during tbe interval thus occasioned, Mr R Bruce, on behalf of the Directors informed those present that owing to their having year to commence operations immediately upon the completion of the'building;'time was not allowed for a formal opening. They had. however, taken the present opportunity, and hence the gathering tnat evening. Mr Bruce then congntnliitad the manager. Mr Henderson, on his having made a name for both himself and his factory, expressing general reliance on his abilities. In conclusion it was necessary to express the rogret of the Directors in losing the services of their colleague Mr Goodwin, to whose untiring energies the success of the factory may. in a great measure, be attributed. AH preseDt joined in wishing Mr Goodwin every success in his northern home. Dancing was then resumed, aud the inspiriting strains of the music were the means of continuing the gaiety till the conventional hour for dismissal, when even the most hypercritical were convinced of the 1 utility of peering into past records for a more successful evening.
