AKAROA V. WAIREWA.

The second cup match between thepe two Clubs took place at Little River on Saturday. The ground, whioh bad been in good order up to tbat morning was spoilt by che rain'which came on at about 12 o'clock. The Akaroa team started two men short, and the home team kindly consented to do the same. Sbott'y after st*rt, however, Cunningham and Newbigan came on for Akaroa, and Wairewa also played with a full team. T'je gfcme, which was very even throughout, was chiefly con fined to tbo forwards. Akaroa kicked off shortly before 3 o'clock with he wind against them in a drizzling rain. The first spell ended with no score on either side.

In the second spell the Akaroa forwards took the ball.over the line with a dribblng rush, nnd W. Hemingway and H. Curry touched down t >gfther. Bimford took the kick 9t goal, but did not improve the score. After this the home team on peveral occasions looked like scoring, but the spell closed without nny further score. Tlie game thus end-'d in a win for tbe visitors by 3 points to nil. For the visitors, Shadbolt, Newbigan Kearney and W. Hemingway showed up well, while for the home team tbe Williams brothers. Wakeleld, and N. Watkins tried very hard to stave off defeat. The visitors were enreit<ined at a dinner and smoke concert at the Lake Forsyth Hotel after the match, and a very pleasant evening was spent.
