A CREAMERY FOR LITTLE RIVER
To the Editor.
Sir —I noticed that, ot a meeting held at Hnlswell, Mr Murphy, speaking on behalf of tbp central dairy factory to be erected at Addington, aaid that the Company wero prepared to erect and fir out n creamery provided that there were from 150 to 200 cows whose owners would tns«» up 200 shares. Another speaker, Mr Rainey, of Tai Tapu, etated that the cows in bis drVrict netted from £8 to £10 per head. I think that, with such an offer from the Company,, and with such a prospect before us, a meeting should bo called by those interested, nnd a cUrt made before the peason is too far. advanced. Tnero i» no doubt there is far more money to be made by dairying than can be made by growing cocksfoot or grazing sheep. I think a district like Little River should have no difficulty in parting with 500 cnwe. and 1 believe thai when the advantages of the systoiu Are fully established, 2000 cows could be supplied. I trust that the cockatoos will wake op acd get a creamery started.—Yours, eto ,
FARMER.
