LITTLE RIVER ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of this Board was held on July 4th. Preeent—Messrs Coop (chairman), B. D. Buchanan, White and Birdling. Correspondence was read— From the Land and Income Tax Department asking for returns of rates collected up to July Ist, for the purpose of calculating amount of subsidy due to the Board. It was resolved that this be forwarded. From Mr W. H. Bristow enclosing tracing of road from Okute valley to Wainni pass 9e re-pegged, and also account for the work. It was resolved that the account be paid. From Mr LeComte acknowledging receipt of deposit sent with tender to form the said road. From Mr Tavender asking that the name of Mr John Reid be substituted for bia on the rato roll as from July loth. It wa9 resolved that this be complied with. From Messrs Duncan, Cotterell and Martin re cheque for certificate of title, and intimating that the amount hid been pnid by the District Land Registrar/^ From the Hon. Minister of Agriculture urging that united notion miy be tnken by local bodies in the destruction of emill birde. From Messrs Reynolds aeking fora progress payment on their contract. Thin was postponed till the surveyorhad reported on the work. Relative to contnct on Peraki ro*d the surveyor had reported favourably, and it was resolved that he be authorised to attend to the improvement of the .Hop section of this road. |

Rβ Mr McPhail's application that some metal be placed on part of Island Biy spur road, it was agreed that the sum of £7 be allowed for the work._ The surveyor reported having shifted a foot bridge on Terawera mill road owing to the old structure being next to useless, and that Mr White had given much assistance which rendered the work very inexpensive. The action was approved of. Relative to Okute valley road which owing to heavy timber traffic and wet weather hae been very much cat up, the surveyor was authorised to have ebnae repairs effected as soon as the road gets ! dry. , ~ Mr Birdling proposed that notice be given of the intention of thie Board' to levy a general rate at its next meeting to be held on August Ist of Jd in the fi.
