INTERVIEW. Messrs Knight and Dicken waited on the Board re requisition forwarded for metalling and fencing in Barry's Bay Koad. Mr Knight specially pointed out that two or more chains of fencing were requirod at end of the present fence. The Toad also required metalling, especially at the clay point, *nd also near Mr Allan's The main road was of more importance than those running up the valleys, as it was of importance to all. Mr Ohatfield pointed out the valley roads were only half-chain roads. Mr Dicken said the French Farm people felt very strongly on the matter on the metalling and fencing, as there was great danger to travellers. The Chairman said ha bad been along the road a fow days ago, and thought it was in fair orderIt was resolved that the matter stand over till members had aeon the road, any bad holes to be filled in. Mr Giddene waited on the Boa-d re his outlet, asking what had been done in tho matter. A letter re transfer of Mr Armstrong's property, German Bay, was ordered to be forwarded to the Council. . From Mr H. Smith as follows :— *"«i Sir,—Some three months ago I wrote to you re having something done to give me an outlet to my section. Your Board then resolved to see Mr H. White ro exchange of roads. So far I am aware this has not been done, and I am still in the same difficulty as to getting out and on to ray land. I may mention that tince last writing one of my children, on going to school, slipped on the tramway and broke his arm, and baa been seven weeks in Christchurch Hospital, which accident would in all probability not have happened if there were a proper road for the children to go to school." It waa re&olved that the Little River Eoad Board be written to, asking them to join this Board in forming an outlet for Mr H. Smith ; also write Mr Smith to make application to the Little River Road Board to assist in forming the outlet required in Boundary Road. From Times re printing, etc. From Mr C, McDonald re gorse on section 10330, French Farm. Mr Barwiok to visit and give notice. It was decided to give notice re goree •on this road to Mr B. Shadbolt ;to MoPhail Bros re Pig Range road. From Mr Dicken as follows :— •' French Farm, June 27, 1892. •• Sir,—l shall be glad if you will have formed that portion of the half chain road which is against land I have leased to J. 0. Anderson, and which is a continuation of the road you have already formed. I am willing to be at one third of the cost, which is, I believe, the usual arrangement." From Mr Luko Perham as follows :— " Wainui, June 27th, 1892. ••I am willing to have the road that runs through my property at present to Mr Kennedy's to be extended through bis property and mine to Jubilee track, provided tho Board erect a substantial sheep proof fence on my side and keep inside the chain between Mr Kennedy and 1 oe far ac road is taken down. lam also willing to exchange this road for the one running through Messrs Sadler and Bates allowing the latter the outlet approved of by the Board." From Mr Aneon as follows:— " Peraki, June 27, 1892. •i Sir,—There was no quorum, and no meeting of your Board on the last advertised day, viz., May 9.7. I was present at the office on that date with the object of calling your attention to the present dantreroiiH condition of the upper part of the Jubilee track ; and to ask that eomething may be done towards it 9 improvements before an accidenj happens. It would be matter for regret if the Board's funds should be diverted from the maintenance of roads to tho compensation for injury received by travellers on them. I am aware that the Board is waiting until a d< finite arrangement has been come to with Mr Perham for an outlet at the cow level end, but I would remind you that in this cose bb in life there are many wnys by which a downward course can be effected, but only one that leads upward, and if this is blocked the whole road becomes uselese. Trusting that you will favorably consider my suggestion for the improvement of the most important part first."

From Mr L>. Le£Jomte on same subject as follows:— •■ Barry's Bay, June 20th, 1892. «< Sir, —I bug to draw your attention to the dane-proua state of the Jubilee road (Wuinui Pans) which is at present totally unsafe for any kind of traffio, being blocked up with trees which have fallen across the road, large holes in the formation, and with the water running down the road it is a complete bog. I trust this will receive your immediito attention, as in the present state of the ro id a eerious accident might occur at any moment."

It was resolved that necessary repairs to make the ro*d paesable should be dove. From ratepayers in Grehan Valley as follows :— " Akaroa, Jnne 30. 1892. " Sir,—We. the undersigned ratepayers of the Grehen road, do hereby request the Chairman and members of the Road Board to have something done for our benefit, for it ia impossible for old or young to pasb in wet weather without getting to the boot tops in mud and water. A coating of shingle of about ten yards to the chain would be of great benefit to old and young, and your petitioners wi'l ever pray. (Signed) W. Kedge. J. Wright J. Bell, E. S. " Gentlemen,—l beg to know if you will be good enough to spend the money received for firewood and posts on Harmon's trnok, in making a few crossings on said road, bo that travellers and ratepayers can ride up and down without risking their lives by having to ride Across dangerous frosty bridges. If your Board will appoint a member to go over the road wilh me, I could point out what is urgently required. I do not want a oarriage drive : all I am at present asking for is a safe bridle-track. Trusting you will favourably consider this." The Board's men to be sent on the road when they have finished on Akuroa side. From County Council, stating application for subsidy had been deferred. From Mr H. 0. Clarke re settlement of accouut with Mr A. J. Joblin, From Government re small birds nuisance. A discussion ensued as to the harm done

and bonefits conferred by the sparrows and finches, the general opinion seeming to be that their extermination would be most disastrous, a reduction in number being all that was needed. r.ORSE. Mr Nawfon spoke regarding gorße on Mr Armstrong's property that had epread across the road.
