AMUSEMENTS.

MB HULL'S PICTURES. "UNCLE TOM'S CABIN." The picture that has been so much talked about—"Uncle Tom's Cabin"— will be screened in the Alexandra Town Hall on Saturday night. A record price of £4OOO was paid for the team of dogs that are used in the making of this wonderful picture. "Bloodhounds" that were used in many stage productions of the story, were often the tamest and most dejected looking of animals and the audience would frequently yell "siz" at the dogs in order to make them show more spirit in the famous scene in which they pursue Eliza across the ice. The genuine Ledburn hounds used in the picture are the fiercest looking dogs in motion pictures. They needed very little inducement on the part of the director, Harry Pollard, to "do their bit." The all-star cast includes Margarita Fiseher, Arthur Edmund Carew, John Roche, Gertrude Astor, Lucien Littlefield, George Seigmann, Mona Ray, Virginia "Grey, Eulalie Jensen, J. Gordon Russell, Aileen Manning, Jack Mower, Vivien Oakland and others. This picture will be shown at'Oturehua to-night (Wednesday), Naseby on Thursday, Ranfurly Friday, Millers Flat on Monday of next week, Ophir on Wednesday and Lauder on Thursday. PICTURES TO-NIGHT. In the Town Hall to-night (Wednesday) Mr Hull will screen Ramon Novarro in "The Road to Romance." Excellent supports will also be shown and a good night's entertainment is assured for the usual prices.
