FARM SCHOOLS.
PROPOSED NEW SCHEME. Instead of asking Mahoment to come to the mountain, as in former years, the Department of Agriculture has decided to take the mountain to Mahoment this year, as far as farm schools are concerned. Io the past it has been the practico for those farmers with the inclination and the time to store in the slack season (if. such exist on the farm) to attend a farm school in Dunedin, run under the auspices of the local branch of the department. The results obtained in this manner were encouraging enough to tempt the departmental officers in Otago to launch a more ambitious scheme this season, which will embody the establishment of farm schools in well selected localities. Tiie idea this winter—and so far if is little more tban a well formulated idea —is to hold four farm schools in June at Oamaiu, Kelso, Dunstan aud Milton.—Exchange.
