CROQUET.
The play last Saturday afternoon took the form of a toimimeiit, Mrs Kidd, an interested visitor having donated a trophy of a nice jog. Half games were played which resulted in a win ioz Miss E. M'Ginius, who played a cWv ststent good game throughout the, afternoon. A large number of members participated and play was kept going in spite of adverse weather conditions.
After withstanding one or two challenges Mesdames Hannan and Stevens, the holder 3 of the Bivers Ferns lost to Mrs Duncan and Miss Noble after a close finish game. The challengers got well away at the start and looked easy winners, but the holders made a wonderful recovery,'pegged out one of the opponents- and- put-up a good light to the finish.
