Miners' Association.

The monthly meeting of the Central Otago Miners' Association was held on Monday evening last, when some halfdozen members attended, the president (Mr C. Weaver) in the chaii. Correspondence was read from tbe Hon. R. M'Kenzie, Minister of Mines, in reference to furnishing the association with all the necessary information, regarding the Keystone drill recently imported by the Mines Department. The Minister also stated tint a copy of the prospecting regulations would be forwarded, and that he would further communicate with the association regarding the method of subsidising prospectors on his return to Wellington. A communication was received from Mr R Scott, M P., regarding the Keystone drill, and intimating his intention of doing his best to have trial bores put down iu various places in Central Otago where miners of long experience are of opinion that gold exists at deeper levels than have yet been worked. Mi- Scott also wrote regarding the difficulty in Dip Creek at Galloway. It was decided to write to tbe Minister of Mines through the member for the district asking if anything had been done towards erecting the Government dam higher, as promised by the department. The president mentioned that he had at last meeting of the Vinceut County Council registered an application for the hire of the Keystone drill for this district. Mr Horn had previously registered an application for tbe use of the drill for the Electric Dredging Co., and his (Mr Weaver's) application was second on the list M.v Flanuery, of Ophir, had also registered an application for the use of the borer. It was stated th it there was a likelihood of a Minister visiting the show at Clyde, and in the event of one being present it was decided to interview him on several matteas of importance. An informal discussion took place on the rivival iu miniug in the immediate district, several of ttie older members stating that the outlook was much brighter than formerly.
