It is reported (writes our Cromwell correspondent) that the Crom. well Club intend to withdraw from the second round of the cup, fixtures altogether. A meeting was called last week to decide what steps to take, but only two players put in an appearance. The cup fixture between Alexan* dra A and Cromwell, which was to have been played on Saturday last, was abandoned owing to Cromwell not putting in an appearance. Alexandra thus obtained the match by default. In view of the probability of Cromwell withdrawing from the second round of fixtures, I would liks to see the Chatto Creek Club take up the vacancy. No doubt the other clubs would be pleased to have Chatto included in the fixtures. The cup fixture between Bannockburn and Lowburn was played at Barinockburn last Saturday, and resulted in a win for Lowburn by 146 runs. Lowburn batted first and made 201 for five wickets, when the innings was closed. Swann (101 not out), W. Stevens (38), and F. Partridge (20) were top scorers. Swann played a brilliant and faultless innings without giving a chance, and received a great ovation on reaching the *■ century. Bannock : burn could only respond with 55; R. Ray (14) and W. Parcell (12) being the only ones to reach double figures.
