|BY WIRE,] (From our own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, Wednesday, 8 p.m. By a fire in a boarding-house at Taihape, a Wellington married woman named Mitchell was burned to death. Her husband and several other lodgers had very narrow escapes. Nothing further has been heard of the Rev. Mr Marshall, who so mysteriously disappeared from Christchurch last week. The police and search parties still continue to search. A lengthy debate took place in the House last night over the Estimates, and will be continued this evening. The question of the precedence question in connection with the Uhief Justice was brought up, but after a lively debate, the matter was allowed to drop. The Opposition party were to have held a meeting this afternoon to choose a leader. It is generally expected that Mr Massey will be elected. The Federal Government have been again defeated, and are in a dilemma, as they cannot ask for a dissolution, there teing no machinery for electing a new House. In deference to pressure from the Powers Turkey is making preparations to put down the insurgents. The ' Times' correspondent states that war between Turkey and Bulgaria is imminent, as the insurgents have 25,000 well-equipped men in the field.
