CRYING BABIES
Peer’s “Sharp Jerk” Plan (Rec. 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 13. How do you quieten a baby? A bachelor peer knows. Lord Mancroft, aged 36, said at a London banquet: “You hold it upside down and you give it a short sharp jerk. This creates an airlock and stops it crying at once. If you want to stop it crying more quickly, give it a bit harder jerk.”
Lord Mancroft added that he ' would not like it to be thought that he did not like babies. He was fond of little girls up to the age of seven.
